Graduations are held in January and July. Students receive a graduation
notice form when they are admitted. This form is to be completed and returned
to the Office of Records no later than October 15th to be eligible to graduate
in January and no later than April 15th in order to graduate in July.
Graduation packets are sent about ten weeks prior to graduation to those
students whose names are listed on the graduation roster. Full details about the
commencement weekend are included in the graduation packet. The commencement
weekend includes a variety of events including a reception, dinner, and
commencement program. Graduates have the opportunity at graduation to meet the
Board of Directors, faculty and administrative staff.
Students must have all final grades received at the University by December
1st for the January graduation and by June 1st for the July commencement.
If a student is unable to fulfill their residency requirement, their
graduation will be postponed to the next commencement. Graduation can be
postponed only once. Students are expected to pace their studies so they will be
able to attend graduation and fulfill their residency requirement. Graduates
exempt from the residency requirement are foreign students, military personnel
serving abroad and individuals with physical handicaps which would prevent
travel.
Included in the graduation fee are preparation of the official transcript
and diploma, computerizing permanent records, cap, gown and hood rental,
graduation facility rental, and many other graduation costs.
All tuition, miscellaneous and graduation fees must be received at the
University no later than December 1st for the January graduation and June 1st
for the July graduation.
The graduation fees are as follows:

black and gold diploma book with the University's name embossed in gold. The
official transcript and legend are similar in format and content to most state
universities.
Official transcripts are mailed directly to other educational institutions
or employers. Student copies can be mailed directly to the student.
Each graduating class has the opportunity to continue the St. John's
University tradition with its own Class Gift. Recently the University's new
covered entrance was completed with last year's class gift. All gifts are tax
deductible and deeply appreciated.
