SPECIAL DOCTORAL PROGRAM FOR MINISTERS

St. John's University offers a special program to provide continuing education for ministers. This program leads to an earned Doctoral degree. St. John's University will transfer three years of seminary graduate study from ministers who have also earned a Bachelor's degree in addition to their seminary graduate studies.

Those who have graduated from seminary with at least 90 semester hours of study, can earn a Doctorate by completing 30 semester hours of study and completing the Dissertation requirement.

Choices of degree programs are: Doctor of Ministry (D. Min.); Doctor of Theology (Th.D.); Doctor of Christian Education (D.C.E.); Doctor of Pastoral Counseling (D.P.C.).

This program enables working ministers to continue their active pastoral work as they complete their educational requirements.

St. John's University has offered a High School Equivalency Program since 1969. This program is available to individuals who are at least 18 years of age and have not completed their high school education. Individuals successfully completing this program have been accepted in various vocational programs, nursing programs, all branches of the military as well as a number of colleges and universities. Some individuals complete this program to pursue better career opportunities, while others complete it for their own sense of accomplishment and increase in self confidence.

This examination is comprised of 9 parts and usually takes a day to complete. It can be taken by correspondence when an approved proctor is used to receive and administer the test. The function of the proctor is to go over all test directions as well as sample questions. The exam is mailed to the Proctor, who will also mail the exam back to the University for hand scoring. The examination fee is $100; those who complete this exam successfully will have a $25 processing fee within 30 days of completing the exam. All official transcripts and certificates for High School Equivalency Program will be released when all fees have been paid in full.
