October Newsletter-
Friends,

Dear Members- Let's see, the past few weeks have been a blur. First there was the Mid-South Fair trial in Memphis, TN, then the Mississippi State fair trial in Jackson, MS, followed by Mr. Robert Barlow's trial in Counce, TN. (See trial results links) Even though I did not make Mr. Robert's trial, I did roll in from Jackson, got Jackey's duds unpacked, laundered and repacked and sent him packing to Counce, TN. I understand the weather was a bit more tolerable this year, even though a deluge of rain came the day before. It is always good to see everyone, talk dogs and watch some excellent to interesting runs. This year's prize for the most creative shed goes to Bob Owen. He would not reveal home much gymnastic training he has had in the past, but it was apparent that he is not a novice.

We had 41 dogs run at the Mid-South fair. We appreciate John Atkinson supplying the sheep and doing a fine job as ring announcer. Ronnie Autry took on the task of judging. Thanks go to Ronnie for a job well done. Scott Kelsoe and his dog Gyp took the honors as winners of the Loftin Memorial trophy. Congratulations to Scott and Gyp for this distinction.

At the Mississippi State fair trial we had a good turn out despite the ominous cloud cover that lingered and threatened. We ran 65 runs on sheep and 44 runs on cattle. I don't runa dog, so all I can do is repeat what I hear and folks seem to think that was the best group of calves they have had in years. Tip your hat and give a double thanks to David and Eric Rogers for all their hard work hauling sheep up and getting the calves together for the trial. I know there were many that helped with these trials, Bob Urban, Leslie Scruggs, Mr. & Mrs. Gale, SCott Kelsoe, Dan Gill, Jackey Jones and many I have failed to name, but you know who you are and so do we. Many many thanks for all your efforts. A trial is a lot of things together and each one is a must for a smooth and successful trial, as these were.  I know that it is "just October" but mark your calendars for February 9th, 2003 at 10:00 am, for our annual meeting in the press room of the coliseum at jackson. Make plans to attend. That about wraps it up for now. KLet me know if you have news or something of interest to pass on. take care and hope to see you all in February.
